Nano Powerhead Questions

So I got my Nano Powerhead. Not too sure I'm thrilled with it. Look kind of gawky :dunno: anyway, so do I leave it on all the time? I have it positioned in the left back corner, how do I determine the best position for flow? Thanks y'all !!!!

I would have it pointing more upwards, so that it's creating a ripple on the surface of the water. And it should run 24/7.
