Reefing newb
I noticed a small animal that came out of a new piece of LR today and have no idea what it is, I dont know if it is a good thing or a bad thing. I couldnt get a picture of it because it was too small so I will try to describe it. I remended me of a caterpillar about 3/16" long, purple, and had white spines or spikes all over it. Any ideas?

My best guess would be a bristleworm. Google bristleworm and see if you find anything that looks similar.

If it is a bristleworm, they are reef safe, good scavengers, good for your tank, etc.

Thats what it is I'm sure. I got a btter look at it today and it is accually closer to an inch long rather than 3/16, he wasnt totally out of the rock the first time. Thanks for the link Messiah and thanks for your input again biffer.

I'm guessing that I got well over 100 bristle worms. Most are 1" or less but a couple are fairly good sized. They are great scavangers and and help keep the tank clean.
