Because you have probably missed it before. They tendto get eaten very fast and are not noticed.

But in salt water snails don't hatch very easily. So you might see them lay tons of eggs, but unfortunately for us we won't be getting free snail babies.

Probably collonista snails. Good guys but will never get bigger.
