Reefing newb
I started up a new 65 gal 8 days ago, used live sand and swiped some live rock from my 150 reef tank and added some new pieces...cured live and a couple of pieces of dry just for a base. I now have amn @.25, 0 trates and <0.5 phos, sal @0.123. I do however have brown algae on the sand and the glass, and ystrdy green 1/4 inch algae that looks like grass has developed on the sand and on some of the rock, even on an old ship that i added that has been "dry " for several yrs. Is this just part of the cycling, and will the "grass" algae disappear after the cycling ends? I am also running phosguard, matrix and carbon in a cannister filter, and also am running a p skimmer.Tks for the help...

the brown stuff is diatoms, which is common when starting up a new tank, and will go away on its own. The hair algae will take more work. I would manually remove as much as you can

even on an old ship that i added
