i have got a 600ltr tank with sump but it has bioballs and wool in it ...is it worth changing the sump set up??

And Yes it is worth changing the sump set up. Instead of all that, throw some live rock in there maybe a little sand and chaeto maybe??

Dont know about the deep sand bed, i cant remember, but i think its pointless unless its 6-7 inches deep, but see if someone else actually knows.

And even then they're more hassle than they're worth, IMO. Just do bare-bottom and throw some rock in there.

the sump is big enough to support what it needs...so deep sand bed it is

IMO the deep sand bed can be bad if you disturb it,it will create a cycle and kill off live stock...barebottom,live rock rubble and some macro algae it the best route our an algae scrubber

With a deep sand bed you can easily crash your tank if you disturb the sand bed, because of the extremely toxic components that will build up in it (namely hydrogen sulfide gas). Many many many people have crashed their tank this way.

Personally, i dont think the benefits of a DSB are worth the risk, especially considering how easy it is to disturb the bed.

ok rumble and live rock it is makes it easier for me ...but the sump has a trickle affect not a flow is that ok for the rock?
