old rock

I've got this little idea churning around in my big empty head. What it is isn't really important right now. ;) What is important is it would involve added a little bit of rock to my tank. I have a few pieces that I initially got from TBS when I set up my tank but decided not to use. So it's been sitting outside for the past 7 months. With my size tank, would I be safe in adding that dead, bleached rock to my tank? Or would I need to do something to it first? Or would I just be better off getting something from my LBS?

I would boil it and rinse it off really well to make sure and dead stuff was off of it

I would scrub them with a brus to get any dead stuff off then rinse. I wouldnt even bother boiling them.

If it's 1 or 2 small rocks, i think it would be ok. Just imagine a fish died in your tank and you don't even know it. Your tank can handle it easily.

If they are big rocks, or more than a few rocks, i would submerge them in salt water for a week or 2 in a separate bucket to make sure it is clean.

I would just scrub it and rinse it in some RO water.Surely after 7 months,everything that had died inside the rocks has fully decayed.
