How is the best way to start a siphon thru the u tube from the front (tank side ) to the drain ( back side) . Thanks

I have never done it, so this is just a hunch.

Invert the U so it is upside down.
Dunk it under the water.
Plug both ends.
Place it where it goes.
Unplug ends.

Get some airline tubing, place it thru the u-tube and position one end of the tubing in the middle off the "U", and with the other end, you'll want to apply a suction to start the siphon. Once the water passes the bend (u), place your finger over the back end of the tubing and gently pull the tubing out.
