Paint acrylic

Now I'm almost certain this would be more work then it's worth but I'd like to ask anyway. My acrylic tank has a blue acrylic panel as the back. Is there a way of painting it that would create a solid bond and not be harmful to any of the live stock? Other than that the only thing I've thought of would be gluing a black piece of acrylic to the inside (no way I'm doin that). Like I said, more work than it's worth but just making sure I'm not missing some simple option. ty

i fear a insert is the only way to change the color but its not really that much work you can have it cut to fit and a little bit of superglue and its a wrap
