Im looking into setting up a sump for my DT in a closet behind the tank. Is PVC okay to use because I've heard they can leach alot of chem. into the water and cause problems.

Don't know where you heard that, but most people use PVC for theirplumbing. All the LFS I shop at have PVC somewhere in their setup.

I know brs sells "reef safe" pvc, i think its just a marketing gimic to up price everything. Same pvc schl 80 is 1/3 price @ menards. I used schl 40 and works just fine. They do have a thin wall 40, so be careful of that because it is prone to cracking... Good luck
