My wife is wanting a porcupine puffer and I was wanting to know has anybody had these? Are they hard to care for? What is the downside to them?

Their not hard to care for. But if you plan to keep inverts, their a no go.
They will eat all your inverts, including snails and hermits. Usually not to hard on soft corals, but seem to like LPS. I assume the hard skeletons help grind down their teeth.

+1 Yote. They are not reef safe. They are usually kept in predator tanks with other predator fish.

Also, a 90 gallon is about half the tank size that's needed. They get big, and from what I have been told, they grow quickly
