PRC's New 180g Build

Here's a couple of short videos of my scrubber screen growth after the 2nd week..I've got a before and after for ya...Notice, you don't clean the screen completely. Leave some algae on the screen...If you're getting brown growth remove it all.

did you rough up that screen real good?
Sure looks like it...i don't think you'd get that kind of growth if he didn't ..
thanks for the vids ...gives me an idea now.....oh,do you just scrub it with your fingernails or some sort of brush?

..oh,do you just scrub it with your fingernails or some sort of brush?

I use a brush...the first few times you can just wipe it away with your hands. But as the scrubber starts to work it take alot more effort. I use a very stiff nylon bristle brush. ABout 2 or 3 times the size of a toothbrush.

Ok. So here's an update on the scrubber. The first video is the screen cleaning video from above. I posted that video on Feb 13. (3 days ago)...as you could see in the video, the majority of the growth was still brown (common when you first install them)..Once you clean it 1 or 2 times, everything starts to turn green. IF it doesn't you have to adjust your lights or flow...If you know you've got the proper lights and they're in the proper position (less than 4" away)...Just turn up the flow and watch it for the next week.

But you can definitely see a dramatic change in color in the last 3 days...and you can also see how much actually grows within a few days. That's why it's important to clean it every 7 days. The amount of growth just keeps getting bigger.
