as far as a skimmer goes you want to get one that is rated for close to double your tank size.. really not less then 200 gal.. reef octopus makes a good skimmer..
powerheads will really depend on what you are going to be putting in ..
quick rule of thumb
softies 20 times your tank per hour
lps 20 to 40
sps 40 and up to 80 times tank volume
I have had these running in my tank for a year now no issues

You should check out the Reef Octopus SRO series. Those models use great pumps.
