protine skimers

in the collection cup what should the water look like cuz mine is a yellowish brown color not too dark like my last skimmer used to produce???

my skimmer produces almost black skimmate which i thought was preferred... some one should chime in to confirm that though....

the darker and dryer the better

Don't feel bad Kwater...my skimmate looks like yours also. Maybe because I have a light bio-load.

i dont think its related to bioload because all i have in my 55 are a few snails and hermits and my skimmer produces about an inch of black skimmate every day or two

it depends on the skimmer and how it is tuned.
