Question on cycling tank.

After setting up my tank, I was planning on adding live rock. Will the rock be enough to cycle my tank or will I need to add something else in? Thanks.

Nope, if you buy live rock it will be enough to cycle it. Normally you'll want between 1-2 pounds of rock per gallon.

do you have livestock in your tank?
you might want to add some food or shrimp to decay and kick off the cycle.
is your sand live or not?

Nope, nothing right now, just setting up. I'm not using live sand, just plan on using live rock to start the cycle.

The live rock will kick start your cycle. Your better off starting with dry sand, it's cheaper and the rocks will make the sand live after a few months.
