question on lava rock

Reefing newb
So i was thinking of using lava rock as base rock, but from what i just saw on another post, i should'nt? how come?

You shouldn't. Lava rock often contains metals, which can leach out into the water. Not such a big deal for fish, but corals and inverts tend to be sensitive to metals, and even small amounts of certain metals can be fatal for them.

Nope, you shouldn't use it. There are minerals and metals in lava rock that will leach into your tank after some time and will end up killing your inverts and possibly your corals. I believe you should only use calcium and limestone based rocks.

thanks, i thought i had a great idea of just buying some cheap lava rock and glueing it together in nice shapes and stuff, o well, back to the drawing board.
