R/O membrane

Well, it generally lasts a two years or something I think, but it can get clogged by sediment, so maybe clean it every month.
But then again, I'm not 100% sure on that.

Ok thanks, i'll take some water in & have the tds tested then. The damn thing is stuck in there & won't come out for some reason.

You should change the filter about once a year. When you see your TDS rising about 10-20 then I'd change it out. (I wouldn't say to change it when you hit 10 because I know people who's water tests at 60 with a brand new 5-stage filter). Also, I would invest in your own TDS meter, they're only like $10-15 new.

Two signs that a membrane need to be checked:
1. Production of pure water is slower than it should be, and
2. Water produced by the membrane not as clean as it should be.

How do you know how fast your system should produce water? We have a calculator that does that - see link on our homepage. You'll need to know your water temperature and your water pressure.

To check how clean your RO water is, 1) check the TDS of your Tap water, and 2) check the TDS of your RO water. Calculate your rejection rate and compare that to the factory spec rejection rate for your membrane. Let me know if you need help!
