Red Tree Sponge

I know a sponge is not a coral, so if this is the wrong area please feel free to move.

I ordered a red tree sponge online the other day and when it came in I was quite surprised. The description said 4-6" which I though would fit nicely in my 12g nano. What I received was at least 12". I had even told the person I ordered from that it was for a 12g nano. What can be done with the extra?
I was careful not to expose it to air, but just look how it fills my tank!

Just cut it down

So, I just cut it with some scissors, or snips, and put the cut pieces in the sand?

yep, but i think i would put the ends on rocks or plugs and then put in the sand.

Yep, you can just cut it with a pair of scissors. Nice sponge!
