thinking of a rimless tank, how much of a problem are jumping fish though? are some more prone to jump than others? I prefer the look but don't want to worry about jumping fish.

Any fish can be jumpers, but yes, some are more prone than others. Firefish & wrasses are known jumpers.

I have a rimless tank , and made a screen top out of window screen & frame to match the exact dimensions of the tank. It just sits on top and is barely noticed when looking at the tank.

Rimless or not, fish can still easily jump if you don't have some sort of a top.

My cube was rimless (see the ecotech website) and I just picked fish not prone to jumping.
