RO water

I have a question about RO water. Is all RO water the same. My boyfriend can get RO water from work, they have as RO system because that is what is run in all the machines. Would this RO water be good enough to use in my tank??

Do you have a TDS meter? If you do, you can use it to test the water and make sure it doesn't have too much nutrients in it. I read that RO water is lower in nutrients that tap water, but still can have a lot of the heavy metals that the DI system can take out. I think you can use it if you are using tap water now, but if you have any algae issues after it. You will always have the doubt about the water source you are using.

Buying an RODI unit is your best bet. It will be expensive, but it will pay for itself in the long run. I hope someone with more experience can answer your question better than me.

So it would be better to buy my own RODI unit...what do you think about this

I'm no sure about that one. I don't like that it doesn't have a TDS meter, but if you make the decision to buy it, I will add a TDS meter just to make sure the RODI water is pure and reads 0. It also says there that you can make 100 gallon of RODI water with it, but who knows if that's true.

I can tell you about this one http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-5-stage-plus-ro-di-system-75gpd.html because is the one that I have. I bought it during a holiday so it was in discount like $20 dollars less. It's a really a good one and my best purchase so far. I will recommend you to buy a RODI system from BRS instead of the one from Ebay just to make sure you will have why you are paying for.

Also , try to avoid systems where the DI resin lays flat. The water doesn't get proper contact time with the media to work as well as it should.

I'm not saying that it WONT work , I'm simply saying that its not the ideal way to house DI resin.
