Rock Question

I'm not exactly sure where else to post this question...

I have an issue with my pump outlet blowing around my sand. No matter where I point the stock deflector it always seems to disturb my sand bed. I've tried it without the deflector and I have one of those rotating deflectors. The rotating deflector disturbs the sand the least and my fish like the water movement it creates way better than the other options. But it will still dig a hole in the sand almost to the bottom of the tank after a week or so.

I have some round stones that came with a beta bowl, a few small chunks of live rock rubble, and some crushed coral. I was thinking about mixing this stuff together to make a more solid substrate to put on top of the sand in the problem area.

All this stuff is old and dry. Whats the best way to clean it, or prepare it to go into the tank?

Thanks!

I would put them in a bucket rinse an couple of time fill with water and mix everything around to ensure good rinse and enjoy lol
