Sand bed

What would be a good deep and use full desierd sand bed thickness for a 125gl?

A true DSB (deep sand bed) is about 6-8" deep if that's the route you want to go. I only have about 1-2" of sand in my 125.

Anything between 2" and 6" is a waste and will promote bad water quality -- a sand bed in that range is too deep for animals to keep stirred up, and not deep enough to act as a DSB. So, if I were you, I'd pick either something less than 2" or something more than 6". Keep in mind that 6" of sand will take up a lot of space in your tank -- space that could otherwise be used for animals. So if it was my tank, I'd go with an inch or two.

I have about 2'' in there know i may just leave it along but a dsb sure does look nice, Thanks
