Setting up 2nd tank cycling question

so I am setting up a 2nd tank and I only had so much water at the time so I started cycling that amount (1/4 of the tank) with the whole shrimp and some live rock and am already getting some nice ammonia readings. My question is that when I add more water is the whole cycle process going to have to start over or will the bacteria continue to cycle itself?

I think if you add a little at a time you'll be fine. How large is the new tank?

The cycle won't restart. You're not adding anything to the new water that would cause it to cycle again. It wil just dilute out whatever ammonia and nitrites you already have in the tank.

45g long so it's 48x13x17. I got it a couple years ago for like 30 bucks.

Someday when I have my own house I will get a 180+ gallon tank.
