Should I do it?

I keep talking about changing my fluval edge tank from fresh to salt. I just haven't bothered because it's been so hands off which is nice for an office setting.

But I was thinking of putting that mantis shrimp i just caught in to the edge.
If I did that, what else could i put in there? Think he'd really bother a small fish or two?

It would be real easy to set up with water from my big tank and john at tampabaysaltwater said he'd send me some live rock rubble for it and a few goodies. So again, no cycle to worry about. I still just worry about the filter system... or lack thereof.

I would think that a mantis would make a meal of small fish

I'm not really sure about the filtration - I would guess that you might be able to forgo filtration with the live rock and water changes, but I'll let the veterans chime in on that

Depends on the size of the tank. You dont want the Mantis to be cramped in there.
But with enough room, the fish shouldnt have anything to worry about.

IN a tank that small, that mantis if gonna feel threatened every time you stick your hand in or a fish swims by.Its fight or flight instincts may kick in and since it wont be able to run,it wont have no choice but to fight.
