Skimmer Help

I finally bought a better skimmer but still am not sure if im using it right.. Is the collection cup on the top suppossed to fill completly up with water?? I adjusted the bubbles to as low as i could get them and it still filled up within 15 min or so and then overflowes back into the tank.. The skimmer i have goes in the tank, Any input would be greatly appreciated..:frustrat:

Is this a brand new skimmer? what type?

A new one will have to go through a break in period for a few weeks. I would open it up full and let it go till it starts to settle down. Then you can start to make small adjustments

Do you use tap water with water conditioner to remove chlorine and chloramine? If so, that's probably your problem. Skimmers won't work with tap water. You should only use RODI water. The additives that you put in tap water screw with the skimmer. Same thing if you use any medications or stress coat additives in your tank.
