Skimmer problem?

Okay so we redid our sump into proper sections etc. We put everything back in and had to put the skimmer on a stand so it could have the correct height of water. It runs best at 8-9.5" . Now it is skimming wet and continues to overflow on 1. We have been able to get a dry skim and keep it about 4.

I am trying to figure out why. It is a SCA-305 similar to a Bubble Magnus.

Everything else is good. My nitrates are up at 10, but nitrites and ammonia 0.

A lot of times when I take my reef octopus skimmer out to clean it, it takes a few days for it to "break back in" again and working properly.

I didn't clean it because I was concerned about it. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the stand.

:bounce:Problem solve. We played with different heights on the stand we made out of eggcrate and PVC. Now it's running great and best thing about new sump is that the skimmer's water height doesn't vary. This is great because it skims more effectively.
