Snowflake eel

Reefing newb
Hey everyone,
First of all thanks to all the members who helped me through my recent crisis I went through with my anenome dieing and nuking the tank. I got all my parameters to normal about a week ago and the tank is looking really good. The water is crystal clear I am so excited about that. Since the nem nuke killed the majority of my fish I recently bought a few additions to get the tank back to presentable to guests lol. Anyways one of the recent purchases was a snowflake eel. He is beautiful about 12 inches long. I have been feeding him silversides and the mysis shrimp that makes it to him after the other fish have picked at it. However I am wondering how often I should feed him as I do not want him to start stalking on the other fish. My LFS guy told me the only thing I should have to worry about him eating is hermits and any shrimp (I don't plan on getting any shrimp). If anyone has any suggestions let me know. For now I have just been feeding him one half of a silverside a day.
Thanks

The Snowflake moray eel is an active nocturnal predator. Its preferred prey is different types of crustaceans but it will occasionally eat fish as well. It will accept most meaty food types in the aquarium and should be fed a variety of different meaty foods such as fish chunks, shrimps, clam meat, mussels, crab meat and other sea foods. The Snowflake moray eel appreciates being fed live food every now and then. Feed your snowflake moray eel when it is hungry, which usually means 2-3 TIMES A WEEK. Don't try to get them to eat more often as that can hurt the health of your morays. They can sometimes go a couple of weeks without eating and this is nothing to worry about if your moray seems otherwise healthy. They are often less active during periods when they don’t eat so this is not a sign of failing health.
You can train your Snowflake moray eel to eat out of your hand. This is however not recommended as they have poor eye sight and will bite you sooner or later. They have sharp teeth and bites from small morays can be painful while bites from adult specimens can cause large bleeding wounds. Hand feeding them can also make them associate your hand with food which can cause them to attack your hand when you work in the aquarium. hope this helps :)

If he's 12 inches long I would feed him silversides/squid cubes (directly to him from tweezers/tongs/stick just as long as the fish don't eat it) until he is full right before you turn your lights off. eels are nocturnal hunters and if he has not had enough to eat, he will more than likely hunt.

They are pretty docile eels but keep a tight lid on your tank :) also offer him a variety of meaty foods-but stay away from live. it trains him your other fish are okay to eat.

if you have any other questions feel free to PM me :) i love eels!

Yup. Feed him until he stops eating every couple days. When I first got mine he was pretty close to 18", but he ate around 3-4 silversides every few days for the first couples months. I don't think they fed him very well at the store...

Pieces of shrimp will work also.
