Starting Over

Hello all. I have a 75G tank that I am setting up again. It's been down for about two years while my wife recovered from some medical problems. I'm re-using all the equipment from before, just cleaned it all off and hooked it back up. Right now I've got the tank aquascaped but haven't added water yet (need to finish hooking up the return).

One question I have concerns the live rock. Obviously it's not "live" anymore. My thought is to re-use it in the tank, and let it become "live" over time as the tank cycles. I've heard a good way to do this is to put a raw shrimp in the tank. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I would use a piece of raw table shrimp, and go get a piece of LR from the LFS. Then cycle away!!! The bacteria from the new LR will grow on the other rock and so will the coraline algae and pods and other good things that hitched on that piece.
