I am looking for something that will shut off the skimmer if it starts to overflow or gets to high in the cup. Any idea?

Does anyone know if this actualy works? useing olive oil to stop overflows?
Also i like how he has it so if it does overflow it goes back into the tank and the pipe is high enough so it only goes back into the tank if it gets realy high. But my questions are is olive oil safe? and is it safe to have that gunk go back in your tank?

i run a hose from my cup to a 32oz gatoraid bottle

I wouldn't try adding olive oil - if it gets into your water I think it will just cause your skimmer to go crazy.
I also run a line from the skimmer cup into a 5g bucket that I keep under my stand.
I suppose you could try something like a electric float switch, but you will need to get one that doesn't turn back on once the water level goes down. Beyond that, it might not work if it gets coated with gunk from the skimmer cup.
