SUMP(Filter media)

someone told me that my ceramic filtermedia in my sum[p is nitrate factories, and that i must get rid of it slowly.
Is this true or not?
and if it is,with what do i need to replace it with?

True,if its not cleaned often enough. If you have plenty of live rock then remove 1/3 a week til its all gone.Make sure you replace the floss weekly so it doesn't become a nitrate factory either.I would use that area where the ceramic rings are for occasional carbon bag or something similar like Chemipure.

Filterfloss is cheap enough that you can replace it every couple of rinses and not make a huge dent. Really good for grabbing all the lil junk that is floating around...

I agree. If you have between 1-2 pounds of LR per gallon of tank water, you won't need anything else for bio-filtration

I heared about a DSB insted of the ceramic filter media.
Whould this be a better replacemnet?

Dimensions of my sump now: 610(L) x 320(W) x 330(H)
Chamber1: 80mm wilter wool
Chamber2: 100mm ceramic media
Chamber3: 90mm nothing in it
Chamber4: 340mm with skimmer,uv sterilizer and carbon phosreactor

New dimension for new sump is: 700(L) x 380(W) x 330(H)

I whould like to have a chamber with filter wool before the DSB and a skimmer in first chamber and some Chaeoto somewere, how whould you say must a make my chambers???
