Sump Pump ?

I have a 9.5 Mag Pump in my sump with the foam filter on it,the question i have do you really need to keep that foam filter on it.I have used them in small ponds before and this foam filter clogs very quickly and reduces the flow.It does this too in my saltwater application.Any suggestions as to leave it on or take it off.

As long as there is enough water in your sump to keep the pump from sucking air.It wont hurt anything to run it without the sponge.

I pulled mine off. I didn't want to have to keep cleaning it. :p

I had a problem with small snails going into mine without the spong on but they chopped right up and stuck in my skimmer. Take it all off what will it hurt.
