If you were keeping a fish only or fowlr, then yes...but for a reef tank, nope. :)

T5 would be better for most SPS anyway but if you want hard corals you'll need good MH lighting.

With a quality T5 fixture you can keep anything you want in the hobby with proper placement.

To the OP - T8's would really only be suited to a tank where there would be no coral
