This may be dumb?

I don't think so. I mean it does take away from the amount of water you have available. I don't know of any ill effects except lack of swimming room maybe?

As long as you maintain a place for fish to swim, like an aisle in the front or back of the tank they should be ok, the old rule for LR used to be 2+ pds per gallon which has been scaled back drastically, you should be ok.

I don't think so neither...I have approx 105lbs in my 29gal tank. And still enough room for swimming.

That must be insanely dense rock, I dont even know how you can even fit that much in a 29g.

I hope some of that is in the sump....

I figured I have 180lbs of live rock in my DT and was going to add like 45lbs of dry rock. I have been adding live rubble into my sump weekly, reason for this is LFS keeps giving me 10-20 dollars off. So I keep getting rubble for $2lb.

The density is why I don't go by the pound per gallon rule. The more porous the rock the better. but the more porous the lighter it is.
