I removed my skimmer a week ago thinking i didnt need it. then i figured that i do need it, and i put it back in. would there be any fixable reason why it's shooting so much tiny bubbles into the water?

oh and i have an Eheim Professional II in my tank. would i really need the skimmer? the skimmer takes up so much space! are there any small skimmers that would do well in a 55 gallon?

sorry,I have no info on the brand because i bought the whole tank while it was already set up.

So everytime i take it out and put it back in i have to let it break in again?
