I just discovered this in my tank today. I have no idea if I should get rid of it or leave it in the tank. Have been searching the web for hours and haven't found anything close.

It looks like a xanthide crab(sp) to me. They aren't reef safe, so it's best to get him out of there and into the sump, if you have you.

yea pointy claws usually mean not reef safe. grab the rock it is in and dunk it in fresh water.

Thanks, it looks like the one in this link. Beautiful but Deadly: Marine Life's Dark Side Problem now is catching it. As far as dunking the rock in freshwater I would if there weren't so many other things living in it.

Took a day and a half, but I caught him. He's now living in the fuge.
