Used Tank

Reefing newb
Hey everyone,

New to the forums here...so far I'm really digging the site...great job! I picked up a used 45 gallon acrylic aquarium with a Jebo set up (wet/dry filter and lighting set up on the canopy). There was a lot of salt and calcium deposits on the tank itself. Any recommendations on how to remove it and make it look like new? Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John

You can clean it with vinegar (just regular white vinegar) and water. Just make sure you rinse it out really well.

Welcome to the site!!

Hi welcome to the site!

I always just use super hot water that usually removes any salt creep or spots I have encountered so far. Vinegar stinks but if you put some in with the water it does help it dissolve better.

Hello and welcome to the site...glad to have you. Vinegar and water solution will help. I wouldn't recommend a razor at all, cause acrylic tanks scratch easily.

Awesome! Thanks for the tips everyone. I'll give it a shot this weekend. Worst case scenario, I'll just pay someone to make it look like new again.
