If your tank is stocked correctly and maintained with regular water changes vodka dosing shouldn't be necessary. It's an easy way to crash your tank. If you are interested in it, take a look at running bio pellets. They are a much safer way to get the same end result

i am getting very high nitrate level for my tank,.around 20 - 25 PPM..its II think because of the over feeding or because the skimmer is still in its break-in period...i already added chatoe couple of days ago to the tank so i am hoping the level should come down by end of this week. if not i will look into the bio pallets.

meanwhile i will cut down on the feeding and do some water changes...
