Hey guys if I was to do a 20% water change, I mix the salt in the new water to be added right?

you mix the salt in the new water. NEVER mix salt in your aquarium that has animals in it.

Yes most people get a large bucket or new clean plastic trash can to do the mixing. Try to always use water that is filtered, preferably RODI water. You can buy this from your local aquarium store and then add the salt yourself or you can usually buy it ready made from the store and you dont have to do all that.

Yeah when I first started my tank i just used tap water but as it got going I changed to RO to keep alot of the unwanted stuff in most tap water out:bounce:

when you mix, take the extra time to make sure it is thoroughly mixed ( no salt residue remaining)

Add the water first to the bucket then the salt otherwise the chemistry could get messed up.

Also, aerate it with a powerhead overnight, and use a heater to get it to the same temperature as the tank water. If you didn't know that already.
