For some reason my tank has been acting very weird some of my corals have not been coming out, i have bio balls in my sump til so my friend told me that my bacteria could be to high but all my level are perfect mg,ca,ph,kh never tested bacteria before.

Have you tested your Ammonia, Nitrites, Nitrates? What about the temp of the tank? Please post results.

Yeah ammonia nitrites and nitrates are fine thats why i can see its the bacteria level but the tank has been running for 2 1/2 years

Salinity? What are you testing with a hydrometer or refractometer?

if you have liverock and livesand in your tank you dont need bioballs :)

On your last water change did you buy from someone else? Will not insult you by asking where you get your fresh from.

When you say nitrates are "fine" what exactly are they? Bioballs can lead to high nitrates, and a sure sign of that is algae problems.

My nitrates are 0 ppm that's the thing i have a 40 gallon tank and I am doing 5 gallon water changes weekly with good salt.

what is the alkalinity at?
Ph?

Some corals just close up sometimes too. Usually seems to be to focus on new growth. My Green Star Polyps and my Duncans all close up for a few days at a time. When they open back up there's usually a new head or two starting.

If it's more than one or two corals, I would suspect a problem but if it's just certain ones and the others look happy I wouldn't get TOO worried.
