Diseased Hammer

Hi everyone my hammer coral is about 1/3 bleached and the polyps at the tip are starting to turn brown, and then white. What should I do? It doesn't look like brown jelly disease. Should I return it to my lfs?

Can you post a picture and give us more details on your set up? Also you should try and frag the healthy parts

The problem is that the whole skeleton is on the frag plug, which makes fragging it like fragging an encrusting coral.

Is it too close to the light, and/or receiving too much flow maybe?

The live part of the hammer is thriving. My lights are low to moderate intensity and my flow is perpendicular to the coral. It (the healthy part) fully expands.

Can coral eating fireworms arrive on fiji live rock?

they can, but its highly unlikely, and they would actually eat the coral instead of it turning brown and then white. I think you have other issues with your coral.
