How do i get rid of the brownish algae build up on to of my sand in my fowlr tank?

What kind of water flow do you have? I aim my powerheads to just slightly graze the top of my sand just enough to create flow, but not enough to stir the sand up. You can also get some nessarius to keep the sand stirred.

i have a koralia 1050 and 240. but they arnt put down low enough to graze the sand so i'll try that but i think the nessarius would get eatin

How old is your tank?...i also have a FOWLR,not a single invert ,,,haven't had any kind of CUC in years..may be something you need to wait out....reduce your lighting schedule,,,no corals means you can run your lights only an hour or a 2 a day...

I moved your thread over to Algae. It sounds more like a diamond problem than a fish problem.

I agree with re-aiming your flow make sure you have no stagnant areas and it wont be able to settle.

Isn't this a brand new tank that is just cycling? I thought I read that in another post?

No, but it is a newer tank.

im pretty sure its just a stage of aging but its ugly, but idk how to reduce it, but yea its fairly new, just a snowflake in it right now my angel is in qt
