Correction I registered Camdentropicalaquatics.com which is his business name. Wife is in Vegas visiting my Thunderbird's son and 3 grandkids. She took our camera with her. When she returns I will post some pics.
I'm getting my $100 back from a sealed 40# box of dry rock. Did I mention I spent about $400 in water changes in last 5 months and tested his water and it matched my tank?
I want $400 his website is ctaquacics.biz company name is Camden Tropical Aquatics. Guess who just registered...
Thanks everyone. It was the base rock. 2 LFS and a 14 year experienced zoologist all said it looked like it came from a quarry in Fla and had never seen saltwater. Been out of tank for a week or more and my test kit along with 2 LFS said my water is perfect in every way.
I posted phosphates to high and was told my 40# of non porus dry rock was most likely it. Removed all 40 pounds yesterday. Did vinegar test on all and no foaming. Wife said it looked like the rocks we used to step on crossing a creek in Indiana. marcorocks.com was suggested in that thread...
Thanks everyone. $100 down the drain. Getting ready to do a phosphate test again if high out comes the base rock. cvcdrk I will check your link as removing 40 lbs of junk rock will leave me wanting more.
I bought a 40# box of base rock from local LFS. not porous more like what you could pick up walking in the woods. Some has developed coraline but without being porous I don't see how it will ever turn into live rock as I was told by local LFS. Same store that sold me bad water
55 gallon tank running for about 5 months now. Always had problems with nitrates and phosphates. Forget about calcium. Have done about 150 gallons or more of water changes. Some from local fish store others from distilled water and mix myself. Last 28 gallon water change I did from LFS made...
With the wet dry my water level is always 3/4" or so from the bottom of black ring that surrounds aquarium top. The return pump starts blowing bubbles so I know to top off sump. I have even tried doubling the amount of water in sump no difference.
Thanks,
Gary
I have a wet dry that I remved bioballs. All that was in it was protein skimmer and return pump. This is a 55 gallon aquarium. Protein skimmer was junk and a guy from craigs list loaned me a in sump and a 200 gallon rated hang of. The hang on is doing great. Added sugar and 1.5 cups in 2...
Thanks everyone. I think I screwed up by not tossing the crushed coral substrate and adding couple inches of sand on top of it. I've tried just feeding once every 3 days what they can eat in 3 mins. i use pellets. I've had saltwater tanks off and on since 13 and am 53 now. My last was a 40...
55 gallon purchased used. 1 or 2' of crushed coral substrate (I didn't clean as tank was running) added 40 pounds of sand on top. 3 months later everything checks fine except nitrates 40 ppm. I removed bioballs from wet dry a month ago and at least 10 12 gallon or more water changes. Is it...
