I like some aspects of it and some are a pain. The biggest pain is the sump area. Only small sumps fit and then it is hard to get a "good" skimmer in there....
One of the good things is a lot of front viewing area. Easy to make a nice cave kind of look with the rock too.....
Hard to take good...
I recently upgraded my lights to the bigger Orphek PR-156. My corals are looking better in the last 4 weeks since the upgrade. Here are some pics. I was very excited when the fixture arrived and couldn't wait to get home to install it.
Thanks guys. I am going to be looking at some sumps. I live close to PA and they always seem to have some sumps for sale on their public days. I will most likely pick up one of those on one of my trips down there.
I am gathering the supplies for a 120 RR I have in the garage and am looking for some advice. I am planning to build my own stand and canopy. I am fairly ahndy with wood working and all. I was just wondering about making the frame from metal and hanging the front and sides of the stand on it or...
Here is a post from Mr. Wilson on RC he has been huge in the canada tank build by nineball. That tank is unbelievable.
Orphek LED: any experience with it? - Reef Central Online Community

Thanks.
Stay away from those kind of fixtures. They only become a headache down the road as they are usually manufactured with components that are not designed to handle the moisture that comes from our tanks. Ballasts/drivers that are not waterproof absorb the moisture and we all know what the...
Think of lighting as the MOST expensive investment in equipment you will make. I am familiar with the cheaper LED fixtures and those are junk. Most likely it's an individual importing them from China in batches to resell locally and/or on the internet....
I bought mine from a guy in our club...
I've always been a believer in too much lighting being easier to overcoome than not enough lighting. Screening or height will usually take care of the issue. Then the light is transferable to another tank.
I know what you mean about price. I wanted the Orphek but ended up going with a couple...
That size of tank almost makes it a nano which is nice because there are a lot of choices you can go with.
For LEDs be sure to do your research and get high quality fixtures from a reputable company. The hard part in that is the allure of the cheaper LEDs from places like ebay and the like...
