yeah the t12 selection is super limited haha. I've been doing some more research and reached about the same conclusion. I might as well invest the extra money now and upgrade the lighting so I can grow whatever in the future instead of having to upgrade again anyway.
I am looking at soderless...
Since its tax season and I will be getting back a good chunk of change I figured now is as good of time as any to upgrade the lighting in my aquarium. I currently have a 55gal tank that is only running one R UV Super Actinic T12 bulb. Needless to say it isn't nearly enough light to do much of...
Ok so if I let the DT run out the 8-12 weeks with just my inverts my clown will stay in the QT tank for that entire time. To help with water quality, now that I'm done dosing with meds, shoud I strap on a carbon filter?
After I am certain that all the ich has been killed off I should QT all...
In my infinite string of bad luck I have lost 2 fish in 2 weeks and almost my third. My setup is 55gal with 40# sand and 60# LR. The tank us relatively new and as of 2 weeks ago contained 2 clowns and a strawberry bassalet. First the clown died 4 days after getting him with out any signs of...
salinity was 1.022 average from 2 hydrometers I use API test kits with the test tubes and color charts. The clown that died was about 1.5 times in size of the remaining clown so it was definitely the female.
The clown was on the smaller size. Drip acclimated for 1hr. The LFS is the only one close to me and I hear nothing but stellar remarks about them. The pair of clowns were going to be the last addition for about 3 months. I am going to slowly bring the pH up tomorrow.
Also I found it weird that...
So I had my first death for my saltwater tank- my female clown: Zoey.
Trying to figure out exactly why she died. I have a 55gal with 1 remaining clownfish and a strawberry basslet. After removing the fish I tested and got NO3: 0 NH4: 0 and pH: 7.4
Both clowns were added at the same time 6...
So essentially I should wait to see a diatom bloom before purchasing which is fine. But the question of how many I'm still not sure about. So since it will only ne 3 fish should I purchase a package for a 30gal? Or will I still need the amount for a 55gal. I don't want them to starve if I get...
Ok so I finally have my 55gal all set up and completely cycled with 40# sand and 60#LR. For my first addition I added in a Strawberry Basslet last week along with 2 hermits. The LFS was pretty wiped out stock-wise from the holiday season so I wasnt able to really pick up anything else in terms...
What if I switched to the cs90 with a rate of 600gph and s maxijet 1200 with a flow rate of 295gph?
Also would it be more benificial for me to house the return in the same chamber as the skimmer and plumb the refugium off of my return pipe with a valve to control flow
