    Nova Extreme 4 x 54W

Yote Thanks for the feedback. Does your 8 x 54W have 4 plugs also (2 120V and 2 Transformers)? According to the owners manual downloaded from the website, the fan "will run automatically with one pair of lights." Seems to me that the transformer should power the fan, but that the fan...

    Nova Extreme 4 x 54W

Just picked up a used Nova Extreme 48" 4X54W It has four plugs: 1 for a pair of bulbs 1 for the other pair of bulbs 1 for the moonlights and one for the fan. When the fan is plugged in it runs constantly, regardless of whether or not the bulbs are turned on. Is this normal?

    Lights Lights Lights

Darrick/James The Tx5 vs the Nova Extreme: Aquariumpros.com has the Nova Extreme 8 x 54W for $435 Wouldn't that be better than spending the same money (roughly) on the Tx5 with only 5 x 54W? Or is it a metter of the nicer reflectors producing essentially the same amount of light as 8...

    Lights Lights Lights

Upgrading my 75G from a FOWLR to Soft/LPS and lighting is about to make my head explode. At $400ish, I can't afford to make the wrong decision. I'm currently using a Current PC 4 X 65W hood which only gives me 3.5 watts/gallon. The concensus seems to be to upgrade to T5 HO Hood. To get to 5...

    Species Requirements

Looking for some help. I'm in the beginning process of switching my 75G from a FOWLER to a reef aquarium. I plan to have only soft and LPS corals. In anticipation, I have already purchased (but haven't yet installed) a LiterMeter 3 dosing pump to be used with an Aquamedic 1000 Kalk stirrer. Have...

    Digital Meters vs Test Strips

What do people think about Digital Meters? They're a little expensive, but it seems like they might be worth it. I've been using API multi-test strips and the readings are very subjective. In general there is a large jump in the readings from color to color, so even if you "think" you can match...

    Copod Refugium

My 75 gallon aquarium is filtered by an over-flow fed sump (bio balls) that contains a Protein Skimmer and UV Filter (not being used). I'm going to build a Refugium. Would like to have a two-section refugium (1 section for live sand/macroalgae, and 1 section to raise copods so I can get a Green...

    trickle filter

Hi everyone I am new to saltwater too. I just set up a 75 gallon FOWLR that the previous owner still had running. It came with a custom built Trickle Filter that uses bioballs. There's a UV filter and Protein Skimmer in the sump (he wasn't running either one). I see in the thread that the...
