A question on coralline algae on dead coral.

I found a spot on the beach with lots of small nonliving(dont like to say dead, haha) coral completely covered with coralline algae! My question is, "if i grated the nonliving coral with the coralline algae on it and sprinkle it all over my tank would it spread faster?

I have a Blue Thumb

Take a toothbrush and scrub the :pooh: out of it in your tank. Scrubbing the coraline will help spread spores.

That's probably a good idea. You want the coralline flakes to settle on the rocks, not get sucked up by your filters.

i bought it for 20 bucks. i found a spot at the beach with a nice brown feather duster. i really wanted it but it seemed too happy where it was at so i let it be

yea i saw prices online and are pretty expensive everywhere else. i can probably talk one of the guys down to 10 dollars. im going to the petshop tomorrow to see if they have more.

is yours the same color as mine?

yeah coco's go for around 40 dollars here. But then again they need to be flown here where as yous just took a short walk probably:mrgreen:

Actually, i still have yet to see a coco worm, snorkeling. Lots and lots of feather dusters though.
