    More questions....

I was going to use the hirock for my base rock, then get 45 pounds of fiji for the top. Is this a preferred setup, or is it better to just get more live rock, and stay away from the hirock? What about my wavemaker? What is a good gph for this setup. I really like the wavemaker kit from Dr...

    More questions....

Thanks for the info. What would be a good gph rating for keeping a variety of corals. I do like the leathers and the softies, but I would also like to keep a few SPS corals, if the 800 is to much what would be the right gph to get? Also is my 45 pounds of live rock going to be enough for a 37...

    Heat from lighting

I am as some of you are aware starting to set up a 29 gal. I have a 175 watt medal halide and 72 watts of power compact. The lights will be installed in a wooden canopy. Will the heat from the lights raise the water temp? The canopy is mostly open on top so some heat will be exhausted there...

    Live sand

Thanks for the help, has anybody heard anything about the coralife skimmers, are they good? I haven't bought anything yet and if the Prizm skimmer is a piece of junk, then I'm not going to buy it. In fact the LFS has the coralife's on sale this month. I did have one other question as far as salt...

I'm sorry if I was asking to many questions on my last post. It seems like I have been reading none stop for the past 5 days on this subject to learn as much as possible. I do have one more question and hopefully it will be an easy one. I am eventually wanting to keep hard coral in the tank, is...

    Can it be done????

Thanks for the help! The next question I have is about protein skimmers. what size and brand would be good on my setup? I have also read that I might need a pump or two that creates motion inside the tank, for corals, is this true? If so what systems do you all recommend. The last question I...

    Tank size

I am completely new to the saltwater hobby. I was wondering what is the minumum size that you can use in this hobby. I bought a used oceanic hexagon tank, used from a friend of a friend. I don't know exactly how big it is but the tank is in great shape and the stand was included in the deal...
