    dimmable ballasts for MH

that may be true, but they do have approved dimmable ballast for T5's on the market....wait, that may not be true either, it may be that we are using a dimmable power strip. Giesman has a light out with dimmable T5's and moonlights, not sure that dimming floresents is all that big of a deal...

    dimmable ballasts for MH

I am sure that some day in the near future, some one will come up with a way to dim MH. If not then the LED people will have a real product on the market for us.

    dimmable ballasts for MH

Well it turns out that there are no ballasts that we can find on the market at this time that will allow MH to be gradualy dimmed:grumble: however....we will be setting it up so the T5's ramp up slowly and then have the MH come on, reverse it for dusk, and then set the profilux up to ramp up the...

    dimmable ballasts for MH

The T5's are not the issue, can find ballasts that are dimmable for them, it's the MH that seem to be the issue, and I have found dimmable ballasts for the MH as well but apparently they will not dim with the controler, just with a manual dimmer on the ballast.

    dimmable ballasts for MH

Hello again fellow reefers, setting up another tanks and I am going with MH T5 and led moonlights, question here is, have any of you ever seen or know of ballasts for the MH that would be dimmable with say a controler like the profilux? If so would it be possible to obtain a link to them?

    Putter's first tank

This Apitasia x you speak of, does it kill the bacteria on the rock as well? If I was to put all my rock into buckets for a week and dose this several times in that week would that be effective to get rid of this stuff, will it hurt the other living beings on or in the rock, will it hurt the...

    Putter's first tank

Again I return, lol this time with a new tank in the works, a plain rectangular GLASS tank, 137 gallon including the overflow box. Of course it was damaged in the shipping and I have been awaiting a claims settelment for over 4months now. The floor of the overflow box was/is cracked, which I...

    New glass tank incomming!!

Ok the new tank is here, no time to do anything with it yet but it's here, oh yeh and broken!!! Waiting on the shipping company to let us know what they will pay. I went with a regular box tank, with a full external overflow box, it has 3, 11/2 inch stand pipes and 2 1" returns and the bottom of...

    coast to coast overflow

Nice looking tank mate! Thanks for the pics and the words of wisdom, I will be ordering a new tank this week and have decided to go with the external CTC full length of the tank. I just hope the new tank does not fall threw the floor once I get it all set up, it will be about 15 gall bigger and...

Thanks yote :D good thread on a closed loop, didn't have time to read the hole thing but I will be going back to it. Bifferwine, thanks to you as well, some one was going to say it, so I'm glad it is out...yes, yes I was indeed a fool to purchase it....but just think....now I have one kick ass...

    New glass tank incomming!!

Ok OK OK!! you all were right, at least all that spoke up and told me not to get an acrylic tank, not even a year and I am going to replace it. I think I will go with either a bow front of maybe just a standard tank. Questions I have for you....how would you plumb a new tank so that the use of...

Thanks for the info on tank temps, I have ordered a couple fans and a digital controler for the heaters, I will aim for around the 76 degree mark, right now the tank seems to climb a degree and a half durning the day and drop a degree at night. With luck the fans and better control of the...

So heat is not the reason I seem to be having troubles with my coral populations....hmmm, must be something else, maybe just not enough light with the LED's.

    blue throat

Well the decision has been made, I will start with a couple scotts fairy wrasse (austrailian) and then in a few weeks I will add 3 McCosker wrasse. I know this will be pushing the bio load but if I step up the water changes I think it will handle it. My tank so far has been running right around...

    blue throat

Thanks for the welcome back. It's not really that I require an easy tank to look after, I mean I am willing to try most anything at least once. The bad part is that I am far enough to the north that I don't have the option to take any livestock back to the LFS to trade or return. I order all my...

Thanks for the welcome back yote, and thanks to all for the info on these. If the triggers are only reef safe-ish then I think I may have to pass, the CB was considered safe-ish as well and indeed was for about 7 months but alas!!! So any suggestions on a really really colourfull reef safe fish...
