    Newly Discovered Hydroid problem

This tank has been up for 7 years. Maybe they came in on a frag?

Too much flow? or too little?

    How are the trees doing?

Too much flow? or too little?

I had a palau frag just like that from Dr. Fosters. I had a tough time keeping it happy. after a couple months it bent over like that and didn't make it. The plus is that the polyps are still extended. How long have they been in the tank? What type of lighting are you using? Are both...

Too much flow? or too little?

Are they frags (about an inch or so fully extended) or are they full trees with many branches?

    Coral Smoothie

Anyone tried feeding with Coral Smoothie? I just picked some up. The ingredients look pretty good. I've been using Dr. G's Oyster Magnifique and Mark Weiss Combo Vital with a lot of success.

    Newly Discovered Hydroid problem

Does anyone know how bad this species is for a reef tank. I have them all over the glass which means they are all over the rock (but can't see any). I'll probably syphon them off the glass. Are their any nudi's that eat these things? I've heard people say peppermints, CBBs, rusty angels, etc...

    Phosphates will not go down

I'm not sure about food requirements for various fish but I've always done ever other day or more. Also, I have more than 25 SPS and LPS colonies that have grown very rapidly in 0.5 phophates so it sound like Dr. Shimek should give me a ring.

    Hoodless or not?

what is your tank temp after the lights have been off all night when your room temp is 80F?

    LED question

I like aquailluminations SOL Blue. It is a modular device so there is potential for new modules when better or different LEDs come out so you can upgrade in the future. You will probably need at least 5-7 modules for that size tank.

    Algae...

NO DO NOT DO THAT. You have to get an insulin syringe and stab the anemone and inject it with a tiny bit of lemon juice. You can do it right in the tank.

    Phosphates will not go down

Also, from reading your other posts I think you're feeding way too much. You can probably feed every other day. I have a neon dottyback, longnose hawk, PJ cardinal, percula and saddle blenny and feed every 2-3 days.

    Phosphates will not go down

Any food you put in the tank is essentially introducing phosphates whether it is eaten or pooped out. The pellet and mysis like others have mentioned might be higher than other foods. Do you have chaeto in your fuge? That should help. You can't beat ferric oxide (phosban) but you really need...

    Algae...

I don't know how bad they sting but they spread like weeds and look ugly. If they are large enough then you can inject (insulin syringe) them with aptasia-X, calkwasser or lemon juice. Lemon juice worked for me. If they are tiny litte ones then introduce some peppermint shrimp and cross your...

    Custom Tank Installs!

I believe acrylic has better transparency then glass unless you go with Starfire glass. It probably depends on the shape and your budget. I think acrylic will be cheaper than starfire in that size. Keep in mind acrylic scratches easily but can be buffed.

    Porcupine puffer with ich

Puffers are typically hardy. He'll probably fight it off on his own. I would say less is more in this case. What food are you trying to feed him? As tempting as it is I wouldn't "pet" the fish. Also, you probably shouldn't have a puffer with calcerous corals. I think he'll pick at them...

    Algae...

I don't think any type of algae stings. Is it an anemone such as aptasia?

    Hoodless or not?

The heat generated from the pump may keep the water at 81 degrees. I've seen this before but I'm not sure about the ones that come with the biocubes.
