    yet another skimmer quiestion

Would the octopus extreme series skimmer be a good choice? is a recirculating skimmer better? I think I'm going to have the guy at the lfs order me one. Seems that a great deal of people here use the octopus' and like them more than some of the others I've asked about in the past.

    opinion on 2 skimmers

Alright the guy down at the LFS talked me into going with a sump/refugium with an in sump protein skimmer when I get set up. The tank is going to be a 90 gallon and he sells either the coralife superskimmer and the Marineland Advanced in sump skimmer, the latter he said he really liked. Any...

    enough skimmer?

Well looks like I've got the green light from the better half to upgrade the tank to a 90 gallon I found on craigs list. I was going to use an aquac remora pro on the 46 gallon bowfront i currently have. will the same skimmer work as well on the 90 gallon? I see most people recommend to get a...

    live rock question

Appreciate all the feedback, it looked like a good deal to me I figured I might buy some of their base rock and standard to get started. I don't know how it is around the country but my LFS sells it for around $7 a pound though he usually comes down a bit when you buy a fair amount. Thanks again

    live rock question

I was just wondering if many of you had any experience ordering live rock through LiveAquaria.com? Their prices seem to be alot better than my LFS. If you order their premium rock is it really "premium"? I was looking at a 45# box of the "standard" to maybe get a good base when I get started...

    another newbie question

Does your tank need to be drilled or can you bring the necessary plumbing up over the back of the tank?

    another newbie question

is the use of a sump that would house your skimmer/heater other equipment purely to get all of those things out of sight or is there an advantage with that method? I noticed most everybody with a larger tank runs these is there a size once you get to its required? probably a dumb question but...

Tell me if you've heard this one before...

Great article, thanks for sharing Biff. I would think a voltmeter would be a wise purchase just to check before you stick your hand in there.

A New Approach to Curing Live Rock

Just curious as to how long this method of curing is supposed to take? Sounds like it may be a good method. And so far no major spikes in ammonia

    any thoughts

I am trying to accumulate all the necessary components for my 36 gallon bowfront and my question is about lighting. My tank is 30 inches long 15 inches wde and 21 inches deep, would I be better served to go with a 2x65w pc or 2 or 4 bulb T5. Not sure yet what kinds of coral I may own in the...

    will this work for me

I'm gonna try to buy a protein skimmer in the next week or so and have decided to buy one of the octopus hob skimmers for my 36 gallon bowfront after it was recomended by many of you. my question is will the bh100f be the right fit for me? should go with the smaller bh100? will these take care...
