What are these snails? (4 types.. Pictures).

Sundial snails seem to have a normal, albeit, perpendicular shell.. This is a longer type snail with more rigid edges and designs on it.

What are these snails? (4 types.. Pictures).

Oh yeah, I read that.. :D But I checked all photos of Whelks and I couldn't seem to match any up.

What are these snails? (4 types.. Pictures).

Thanks guys! No idea where they came from (Except for the big ones). But I still can't identify that black and white one, nor how he magically appeared. I can't match his picture up to anything!

What are these snails? (4 types.. Pictures).

Trying to figure out what these are, and where they came from! These first 2 I bought when they were smaller, so I know where they came from. Just not sure what they are.. They are pretty large now.. maybe 1.5" tall.. Nevermind the ones mohawk. This next one, I BELIEVE I got from the live...

Ditched my power filter have question....

Yes, but as the waste builds up in the filer, and leaches back in the tank, it should be filtered by the biological filter anyways, so I don't understand how it would be any worse. Seems like a myth to me.

Ditched my power filter have question....

I'm confused. Why is no power filter better than a filter?

Feel stupid asking, but.. How to remove bulbs from Odyssea fixture?

Alright popped the screws which let me dismantle one. So they 'do' just pull out. But they are cheap cheap, and really jammed on there tight, it seems. :D

Feel stupid asking, but.. How to remove bulbs from Odyssea fixture?

Manual? ahaha.. And I quote, from the only writing on the package. "before installation remove masking from all sheet edges. Remove masking immediately after installation!" Annnnd, "must use neutral sealant and gluey underlay".. Priceless quotes! :D

Feel stupid asking, but.. How to remove bulbs from Odyssea fixture?

Hah.. here are some pics. Well even if I were to turn them, there is no slot for them to come out, so I'm at a loss here. :D

Feel stupid asking, but.. How to remove bulbs from Odyssea fixture?

Just got a 24" Odyssea fixture in the mail, and I wanted to change some wires (Want to have the ends on 1 plug, then the middle 2 on another).. However, as stupid as it may sound, I'm unsure of how to pull the bulbs out of their sockets. They definitely don't look like they turn 90deg... And...

4x24 T5ho in 29gallon tank enough for corals and anemone?

Oh different tank.. Tank is probably 4-5 months, so I'm going to wait a bit.. But I'd like to get some better lighting in the meantime.

4x24 T5ho in 29gallon tank enough for corals and anemone?

Well, I guess I'll drop $62 and see what happens and what needs modding (Hell, I love that part anyways). Now, before I DO that, my current 'rigged' setup is a standard household 2x24" NO fluorescent fixture (You know, you'd hang it underneath a cupboard or some such) which are 20watts each I...

4x24 T5ho in 29gallon tank enough for corals and anemone?

Oh yeah, definitely no room for that unfortunately. :( I have heard they have a single reflector, shaped as individual reflectors (Which I see no reason would be any worse than 4 pieces of metal). So assuming it did have individual, an anemone can get away with 2 actinic's and 2 24w bulbs? I...

4x24 T5ho in 29gallon tank enough for corals and anemone?

Yeah a pic would be great. I'm just wondering if that extra oomph is wasted because it's hanging over the sides of the tank? Stupid 30"... But barring that, if I WERE to go with only a 4x24 T5ho, could an anemone thrive in it? I mean, the tank isn't that deep, but, who knows!

4x24 T5ho in 29gallon tank enough for corals and anemone?

Hey guys, well I'm almost steering away from MH lights for my 29 gallon (30 inches wide) due to some issues, but I'm wondering if a 96watt T5HO would be good enough for it? The dimensions of the tank are 30" x 12" x 16", and I was thinking of getting an anemone, and perhaps some coral (but who...

    Quick MH ballast question.

Thanks tons man! Yup, looks like I would be an inch short on each side. Bummer! So do you think the 380watt one is too much? It wouldn't limit my ability to keep fish with 'overlighting' would it?

    Quick MH ballast question.

Sorry, what I meant was if I get the 24" one, could I slide the legs out to be 30" (Maybe a bit wider). On your 48" fixture, do the legs slide out farther than 48"? That way I could tell if the 24" might slide out to 30".

    Quick MH ballast question.

Now the real dilemmas start. I found this guy.. Odyssea Metal Halide System I know quality may be lacking, but I'm familiar with electronics. But the only 30" they make is 350watts!! Surely that is too much for a 30" 29gallon aquarium? I wanted their 24" kit that is 150watts, but they say...

    Quick MH ballast question.

Thinking of picking up a used dual 175w MH ballast. Now first, can I run a single 175w bulb in this? Will this be too much for my 29 gallon tank? And if I can run just 1 bulb, do ballasts have a life that I should be concerned about? Thanks!
